Kevin Smith: An Angel Investor Out to Make a Difference.

Kevin's story begins in France where he was born and bred. His parents migrated from Benin, and settled in France. Later, his father remarried and had 5 childs, who became his step siblings.

Kevin is an angel investor, and a Supply Chain expert. He first invested in his step brother’s business. Today, that business generates returns of more than $3M a year.

Kevin is one of the brilliant minds behind MBK Events (California), with a goal to unite like-minded individuals, foster networking, offer mutual support, and facilitate learning and growth. He understands this mission profoundly because it has transformed his own life.

From a young age, one of Kevin's younger brothers displayed a remarkable talent for handiwork and trained as an electrician to hone his passion.

At the age of 18, the brother ventured into business, which, unfortunately, failed faster than it had begun. Meanwhile, Kevin completed his Master's degree in supply chain management, giving him insights into what makes a business successful.

Following the setback of his first business, the brother explored a different endeavor in construction. Kevin had confidence in his brother's skills but doubted his ability to run a successful business. While his brother wanted Kevin to invest in the idea, Kevin remained cautious.

Ultimately, Kevin agreed, but under the condition that he would handle the business development aspect. The two reached an agreement, and the company flourished, now boasting an annual revenue exceeding $3 million.

Kevin understands the power of networking, which has attracted significant clients to the business. For instance, he brought aboard France's largest bank, PNB Paribas, as well as Alliance and Disney World, Paris.

The success of the business with his brother opened Kevin's eyes to the opportunities of being an angel investor.

In 2017, he migrated to America and established a company rooted in supply chain management, with a focus on the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry and small to midsize businesses.

Kevin is passionate about investing in startups, particularly in the pet market. However, this journey has not been without its risks. He invested $20,000 in a startup with an excellent idea, but the owner relocated to Lebanon, and Kevin lost contact.

He laughs and says, "It's okay; that's how you learn. Lessons come in various shapes and sizes."

Kevin is also an investor in farming, with a particular interest in chicken and rabbit rearing in Benin.

If you have a business idea that could benefit from angele investors, mark your calendar for October 21st at the Santa Anita Racetrack; he, and others, will be there.
